The ice spray effects were created using a procedural particle system that mimicked the look of a simple particle simulation in houdini. This was done by pushing points along vectors from the source geometry's velocity, using a procedural method allowed us to change values on the fly and tackle more shots quickly.

I created the coffee splash and spill effects using houdini's flip fluid solver, with additional post-processing work to achieve the desired silhouette. In the shot where the coffee stays on the character's face, particles were projected onto the character and cut out into the desired splash silhouette, then remeshed and combined with the fluid sim.
